SIGNAL – as diferentes edições / the different editions

A revista SIGNAL teve o seu início de publicação em Abril de 1940, em quatro edições distribuídas por diversos países. Alemão, inglês, italiano e francês foram as quatro línguas originais. Seguiram-se as seguintes, com notação do código da edição e título próprio, diverso da edição-base (SIGNAL):

Abril de 1940: alemã (D), francesa (F), inglesa (E) e italiana (D/I, I)(SEGNALE)

Maio de 1940: dinamarquesa (Da) (SIGNALET)

Junho de 1940: holandesa (N, H) (SIGNAAL)

Agosto de 1940: norueguesa (N)

Janeiro de 1941: espanhola (D/ Sp, Sp)

Março de 1941: búlgara (B) (СигналЪ)

Abril de 1941: sueca (Sch) e húngara (D/ U, U)

Maio de 1941: romena (Ru) e croata (Kr)

Junho de 1941: portuguesa (Po) (SINAL), turca (Tü) e iraniana (Ir)

Julho de 1941: grega (Gr) (Σύνυημα)

Janeiro de 1942: finlandesa (Fi) (SIGNAALI)

Julho de 1942: eslovaca (Sl) (SIGNÁL) e sérvia (S) (Сигнал)

Setembro de 1942: russa (Rus, Rs. Em 1944, Ost) (Сигнал)

Outubro de 1942: árabe (Ar) (شال )

Agosto/ Setembro de 1944: polaca (P)

Fevereiro/ Março de 1945: edições para a estónia e a letónia (ambas sem confirmação, mas existem cópias parciais do n.º 4 de 1945 destas duas edições)

Pode considerar-se a russa desdobrada em duas pois nos últimos números de 1944 e de 1945 parte do conteúdo vinha ainda traduzido em Georgiano, Tatar, Tártaro da Crimeia, Arménio, e Azerbeijão (Azeri). A própria editora atribuiu códigos distintos a estas duas fases: “Rus” para a edição destinada aos russos, e “Ost” para um conjunto mais alargado de povos da antiga URSS.

Assim, se contarmos os códigos, incluindo as duas edições que ainda não tiveram confirmação apesar de existirem cópias parciais, são ao todo 26 edições em línguas diferentes.

SIGNAL magazine begun its publication in April 1940, in four different editions that were distributed in various countries. German, english french and italian were the original languages. The following languages were then added, with edition code and title if different from the base edition (german, SIGNAL):

April 1940: german (D), french (F), english (E) and italian (D/I, I)(SEGNALE)

May 1940: danish (Da) (SIGNALET)

June 1940: dutch (N, H) (SIGNAAL)

August 1940: norwegian (N)

February/ March 1945: editions in estonian and letish (both without plain confirmation, although there are partial xerocopies of the summaries of n. 4 of 1945 from both these editions)

The russian edition was in fact two editions, because in the last issues of 1944 and 1945 part of its content namely the summary went tranlated in Georgian, Tatar, Crimean Tatar (Crimean-Turkish), Armenian, and Azerbaijani (Azeri). Deutscher Verlag itself attributed different codes to these two distinct phases: “Rus” or “Rs” for the edition destined to russians, and “Ost” for the broader group of peoples of the former USSR.

So, if we count the codes, including the two for which we still don’t have confirmation, there are 26 different editions.
